Bridge Nouveau Theatre Company, LLC is a theatre group made up of both professional artists and community volunteers who want to bring high-quality and innovative productions to the Baton Rouge area. Created by a group of local, professional theatre artists and community volunteers, Bridge Nouveau aims to present relevant work that entertains, inspires and challenges its audiences while celebrating and promoting the art of theatre itself. As a theatre company, Bridge Nouveau's goal is collaborating with the community for found performance spaces rather than traditional theaters. We align our mission with the mission of the found space and find plays that are the best fit for a unique entertainment experience.

History

Our very first show was performed at the Baton Rouge Gallery, a BREC facility, which is a center for contemporary art. That being the case, we decided to perform John Logan's Tony Award-winning play RED. RED is a play about the American painter, Mark Rothko, and it explores challenging questions about artists and art itself. We found that doing the play in an actual art gallery was a special and profound experience because were surrounded by the art of local artists hanging on the walls of the gallery who were experiencing some of the same triumphs and challenges of the characters. It made the play come to life on a whole new and personal level.
